Why
Ductile Iron?
Offering a higher coefficient of friction
than stainless steel - with more consistency
during use as heat rises - ductile iron
is by far the best material for high
performance brake discs.
When used with appropriate pads, ductile
iron outperforms all other ferrous disc
materials and makes modulating the brake
pressure applied at the lever to achieve
maximum deceleration required much more
achievable for all riders, not just
professional racers.
The grade of ductile iron used has a
unique specific heat treatment process
applied to it to offer a stress free
heat resistant structure and avoids
the surface cracking found with other
materials and to maximise rotor life.
It should be noted that when unused
for long periods or during rain, iron
discs will assume a brown/rust coloured
finish on the swept area until re-used. |
