BST
wheels are up to 30% lighter than most of
today's advanced motorbike racing wheels,
and even more significantly lighter than the
standard production wheels. Since the weight
saving comes from the spokes and the rim,
the mass of the wheel is concentrated in the
hub to the benefit of rotational inertia.
Because these wheels offer a substantial reduction
in flywheel and gyroscopic effects, the motorcycle
can accelerate, corner and brake faster. In
particular, the reduced gyroscopic effect
allows for much faster directional changes,
which makes the motorcycle far more sensitive
to the rider's demands.

GP TEK Race/Tack Wheels – The Lightest Motorcycle Wheels in Existence!
Exceeding the designated strength tests specified by FIM & DORNA for international racing, the race and track-specific GP TEK is the lightest and most advanced motorcycle wheel in the world.
With a combined mass (excluding sprocket carrier and depending on fitment) of around a remarkable 3.8 kg/9 lbs for the pair, it is certainly the wheel set of choice for racers, track day enthusiasts and those who want the ultimate motorcycle performance upgrade.
Having produced their very first full carbon fibre wheel 18 years ago, the GP TEK now represents the culmination of BST’s achievements and aims to make carbon fibre performance products that are as light and as strong as possible but which - despite incredibly low weight - still boast unprecedented levels of rigidity - in a motorcycle design area where there is absolutely no room for compromise.
In a world-first, BST uses a proprietary construction method where a series of internal structures create three-dimensional supports in key areas resulting from each wheel being hand-crafted from up to 215 individual pre-cut pieces of carbon fibre material, each being added in a specific sequence and at a specific orientation, like a three-dimensional jigsaw puzzle.
Not all carbon fibre is created equal and BST uses base material of the highest grade (in other words with the highest tensile modulus, i.e., a material’s ability to resist stretching and deformation) and BST’s German-sourced carbon fibre is strictly ISO controlled and - as has always been the BST way from the very beginning - it is 'prepreg' laminate providing BST with more manufacturing control and consistency and ultimately the ability to produce a lighter wheel than those from any rival brand.
Once a GP TEK wheel is autoclave-cured, other hardware is added; hubs being crafted from 6082 T6 alloy and finished off with T5 titanium fixing and fasteners.
There is no surer way to improve straight-line performance than with a set of ultra-light wheels and, with GP TEK, it's like being given an extra five horsepower. Reduced weight is often achieved at the cost of rigidity and/or impact resistance - with consequential compromises in terms of cornering precision, feedback and ultimately safety - but thanks to the unique engineering and production processes employed at BST, these concessions don’t exist with the GP TEK, substantiating the claim that it is the lightest and most advanced motorcycle wheel in existence.
